This study discusses parents’ interpersonal communication strategies in developing children’s independence in the digital era. The background of the research is based on the high level of children’s access to the internet, which requires parents to both supervise and shape independent character. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach with in-depth interview techniques involving parents who actively accompany their children in using gadgets and engaging in daily digital activities. The findings show five dominant interpersonal communication strategies: instructive, dialogic, persuasive, empathetic-affirmative, and digital supervision and negotiation. These strategies not only function to control the use of technology but also strengthen emotional closeness, foster a sense of responsibility, and train children in self-regulation. In conclusion, parents’ interpersonal communication plays an important role in instilling the value of independence in children so they can adapt to the challenges of the digital era.
