Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Islamic Counseling and Psychotherapy (JICOUP) undergo a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and relevance of the published articles.

Initial Submission: Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system. The manuscript must follow the journal’s author guidelines and ethical standards.

Editorial Screening: The Editor-in-Chief or assigned editorial team conducts an initial screening to evaluate the manuscript’s suitability with the journal’s focus and scope, originality, and adherence to submission guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal requirements may be rejected at this stage.

Plagiarism Check: All submitted manuscripts are checked for plagiarism using appropriate plagiarism detection software to ensure academic integrity.

Double-Blind Peer Review: Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers using a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed to maintain objectivity.

Reviewers’ Evaluation: Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on several criteria, including: originality and contribution to the field, methodological rigor, theoretical relevance, clarity of presentation, relevance to Islamic counseling and psychotherapy,

Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers’ comments and recommendations, the editor will make one of the following decisions: Accept without revision, Accept with minor revisions, Accept with major revisions, Reject

Revision by Authors: Authors are required to revise their manuscripts according to the reviewers’ and editors’ comments within the specified time frame.

Final Decision and Publication: After revisions are submitted, the editor will evaluate the final version of the manuscript. If the manuscript meets all requirements, it will be accepted for publication and scheduled for the upcoming issue.

The entire peer review process is conducted to maintain academic quality, transparency, and integrity in scholarly publishing.
